Chances are if you visit Kierste you’ll find her lounging on her dog bed in the back of her kennel. Kierste is a 40 to 45 lb., 5-6 year old Husky/Collie mix who shys away from noise and drama. But call her and she comes, studying your face with her bright, blue eyes. With her tall, floppy ears and pretty wheat colored fur, Kierste might remind you of a kangaroo; on the other hand she’s always as gentle and mild mannered as a lamb. If you’re her special friend, she’ll laugh and joke with you while she playfully chases toys, returning them with her gentle mouth. Kierste “sits” politely when asked, and barks to let you know she needs to go outside. But the best thing about Kierste? When she runs to you, then sniffs and licks your face. Kierste wants to be a faithful companion, but needs some things in return: love and kindness are at the top of the list. Volunteers that work with our dogs are not always at the rescue center during public hours. Please make an appointment if you wish to be able to take a dog out of its kennel. Thank you!
